Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Touchbase

Calls come from a dedicated Touchbase phone number. We're working on displaying "Touchbase" on caller ID so your loved one knows it's a check-in call. We recommend saving our number in their phone contacts so they recognize incoming calls.
The Free plan includes 10 calls per month, which is great for weekly check-ins with 1-2 people. The Premium plan includes 100 calls per month, enough for daily check-ins with multiple loved ones, plus medication reminders and scheduled wake-up calls.
You can cancel your Premium subscription at any time from your account settings. Your service will continue until the end of your billing period, and then you'll be moved to the Free plan. Your data, contacts, and call history will be preserved.
Voice cloning uses advanced AI to replicate your voice. You record a 30-60 second sample in the app, and our system creates a voice model. When you send a text message, it's spoken in your cloned voice. Premium users get 3 voice-cloned messages per day.
Yes! During health and mood check-ins, they press a number (1-5) to rate how they're feeling. For voice messages, they can record a response after listening. You'll receive the recording and a text transcription.
You control what happens when calls aren't answered. For each contact, you can choose to: leave a friendly voicemail saying when the next check-in will be, get a text notification when a call is missed, and receive alerts if multiple calls in a row go unanswered. You'll always see "Missed" in your dashboard so you can follow up if needed.
Currently, Touchbase is available for US phone numbers only. We're working on expanding to other countries. If you'd like to be notified when we launch in your country, please contact us.
We take privacy seriously. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Call recordings are stored securely and only accessible to you. We never share or sell your data. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time.
Multi-caregiver support is on our roadmap. Soon, you'll be able to invite other family members to share access to a loved one's check-ins, so everyone stays informed. Currently, each account is for a single user.
After any call, your loved one can access Touchbase Radio by pressing a button. Options include today's news headlines, local weather, music, audio books, sports updates, and a daily inspirational quote. It's a simple way to stay informed and entertained - especially helpful for those with vision difficulties who find phones easier than screens.
Absolutely! While Touchbase is designed for checking on loved ones, you can add yourself as a contact and schedule reminders for your own use. Set up medication reminders, wake-up calls with weather and news, or daily check-ins for yourself. It's a hands-free way to stay on track without relying on phone notifications you might ignore.
We're here to help! Use the feedback button in the app to reach us, or email support@touchbase.app. Premium users get priority support with faster response times.

Why We Built Touchbase

My mother-in-law had a PhD in English. She taught ESL, loved photography, and was always engaged with the world and her work. For years, I'd email and text her photos of my kids - she loved that.

Then she started losing things. First the computer became too confusing. Then texting. The technology that connected us stopped working for her - one piece at a time.

But the phone still worked.

For five or six more years - even as she lost so much else - she could still answer a call. Still loved to talk. The phone was the last connection that made sense to her.

That's why I built Touchbase. Because the phone works when nothing else does. For people losing abilities, dealing with vision loss, disabilities, or anyone who just prefers a friendly voice to a screen full of apps.

For the times you can't be there, Touchbase is.
